What happens at the initial meet-and-greet?
The meet-and-greet allows your pets to meet me for the first time with you present in order to minimise stress, it is always best for them to meet new people with you around so they feel as confident as possible. During our initial meet you can ask any questions you have in order to feel confident I am the right person to mind your pets while you are away.
I have a questionnaire to go through so you can set expectations about your house and living arrangements, pet profiles outlining their typical behaviour and routine and a veterinarian release form with agreed steps to follow in the event of a medical emergency.
This visit is obligation free.
Is a meet-and-greet required?
All new clients must have a meet and greet before a booking will be accepted, this is required to ensure your expectations are clear and achievable and all parties are comfortable with the arrangement.
Meet-and-greets are not necessary for repeat clients provided there are no significant changes in your requirements. Go to my availability page and submit a booking request the dates you require.
What happens if my pet becomes ill or is injured?
At the meet-and-greet we will discuss a plan for dealing with medical emergencies so any dangerous situations can be handled immediately based on your expressed wishes.
I will always attempt to contact you first, then your listed emergency contacts if there is an urgent medical concern and seek to use your regular vet clinic whenever possible. My priority is your pets wellbeing so if I cannot contact you or your emergency contacts I would seek appropriate medical care and advise you as soon as possible afterwards.
Will you administer medications?
Yes I will administer medication in tablet, liquid and topical form and am able to administer injections provided this is discussed at the initial consultation and clear written directions are provided along with detailed vet information. I will not administer medication to any animal that puts me or your pets in a dangerous position.
Can I see your police clearance?
Yes, this will be available at the meet-and-greet, just ask.
Do you have insurance?
Yes, my professional services come with pet industry insurance that includes pets in care, custody, or control as well as public liability and general property cover. I take the safety of your home and pets seriously.
What areas will you service?
I service metropolitan Adelaide, if you are located outside of this area feel welcome to discuss your needs with me to see if I can help.
How do I make a booking?
If initial contact was made via a pet sitting website you can continue to communicate there, you can also use the contact me link below. Either way, I will get back to you as quickly as possible.
I keep up-to-date information on the contact me page about upcoming bookings, if the dates you require a sitter are free, complete the form to request a meet-and-greet or request a call back to answer any questions you may have.
Pet Sitting
How many pets can you sit at once?
In order to provide your pets with the best care possible, lots of attention and appropriate exercise, I will happily sit up to 4 cats or dogs per booking.
Larger families, farm sits and other animals can be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Please note, I will not sit pets that require live-feeding.
How long will you spend with my pets during a pet sit?
My favourite part of pet sitting is getting the privilege of spending quality time with your pets, but I do not offer 24 hour attendance.
During a sit I spend all nights in your home and I am present for substantial periods each day around my other commitments. Your pets must be able to cope safely with reasonable periods alone.
At the meet and greet we will discuss your pet’s routines and the maximum amount of time they can be comfortably left. I will only accept bookings where the agreed alone time is suitable for your pet’s welfare.
Will you walk my dogs daily?
Absolutely. Dogs require regular walks for physical and mental exercise and I love being able to take part of one of their favourite activates, let me know what exercise they normally enjoy at the meet-and-greet and I will aim to continue their current routine.
What areas will you service?
I provide services in metropolitan Adelaide, the crucial factor is the types of pets and how long they can be left unsupervised.
What if my planned leave changes?
I understand circumstances can change. If I accept a booking I am committed to be there and would refuse other bookings during that period so it’s important that you let me know immediately if your plans change.
What if my return is delayed?
As soon as you know of any delays, contact me, if I do not have a booking immediately after yours I am generally happy to stay longer and continue looking after your pets. If I am unable to stay in your house as I have another booking, I will make every effort to make daily visits so your pets are feed, clean, exercised and safe. Your pets safety is my priority.
Will I get updates while I am away?
Definitely, I know what it’s like to worry about your pets while you are away so unless you tell me not to, I will send regular updates on your pets, including photos and videos, so you know they are safe and happy.
Can I monitor via my security cameras?
You are welcome to use security cameras on and in your property for your own peace of mind during my stay provided I am advised where they are and am afforded reasonable privacy. Same goes for any listening devices like Google or Alexa, just let me know they are there and it is not problem.
Dog Walking
What is the duration of dog walks?
Walks are tailored to each dog’s needs and will last up to 60 minutes, let me know if your pup requires longer and we can discuss options.
How many dogs will you walk at once?
I only walk dogs from the same household together. If your dogs are used to walking together and are well-behaved on leash, I’m happy to manage them as a group. However, if they have different walking needs, I may recommend individual walks to best accommodate each dog.
Will you walk my dog in all weather conditions?
If the weather is unsafe, I won’t walk your dog; instead, I’m happy to spend the scheduled time providing mental enrichment activities as an alternative or to reschedule the walk for a safer day. What’s considered safe can vary depending on your dog’s breed and needs.
Home Visits
What happens during a home visit?
Each visit is tailored to your pets specific needs whether this is providing medication, food, waste removal or company and peace of mind that your pet is being checked on. All basic pet needs can be managed during a home visit.
How many home visits can you do per day?
In most circumstances I can provide two home visits per day.
Pet Chauffer
What services do you offer for pet chauffeuring?
Pet pick up and drop off to your door, comfortable and secure transport, ventilation and climate control at all times, water, snacks and toilet breaks if appropriate.
Will you wait while they are in an appointment?
Yes. Let me know the expected wait times and they will be factored into your quote.
How do I book pet transport services?
Submit a quote request and I will get back to you with an estimate.
Dog Training
What dog training services do you offer?
I’m happy to work on training and behavioural issues, this includes puppy training, basic skills training, loose leash walking and reactivity.
How many training sessions are typically needed?
The number of sessions varies based on each dog’s needs and progress. We usually start with an initial assessment and then plan a tailored training schedule for you to continue on your own.
What happens during a typical training session
Each session includes assessing the dog’s current behaviour and your goals, practising specific training exercises, and providing guidance for ongoing training. The focus is on creating a positive and productive experience for both the dog and their guardian.
What training methods do you use?
I use force-free training techniques, focusing on positive reinforcement to build trust and encourage desired behaviours without causing stress or fear.
What are your qualifications?
I hold certificates in pet care, dog psychology, behaviour, and training, and I am committed to ongoing training to stay updated with the latest methods.
